Recall of 400,000 bottles of medicine from Kroger, Walgreens: what you need to know

Hundreds of thousands of over-the-counter medicine bottles sold at Kroger and Walgreens are being recalled due to unsafe packaging.

Here is a breakdown of the four different Consumer Product Safety Commission recalls:


Product Name: Kroger Aspirin, 300 vials and Ibuprofen, 160 vials

This recall involves Kroger brand aspirin and ibuprofen over-the-counter medications. For the aspirin product, the green and yellow label says Kroger, Low Dose, Aspirin, 81mg Delayed Release Tablets/Analgesic, 300 Enteric Coated Tablets. The bottle has a green continuous thread gear closure. For the ibuprofen product, the blue and white label says Kroger, Ibuprofen, Capsules, 200mg Analgesic/Fever Reducer, 160 capsules. The bottle has a blue continuous wire gear closure. The following UPC and lot numbers listed in the table are included in this recall and can be found on the label on the back of the bottle.

The recalled over-the-counter products contain the controlled substances aspirin and ibuprofen which must be in child-resistant packaging as required by the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA). The red and white label says Walgreens, Easy Open for Adults, Pain Reliever, Acetaminophen, 500 mg, Fever Reducer, Extra Strength, 150 caplets. The bottle has a continuous thread red gear closure. Included in this recall are UPC number 311917218090 and lot numbers P2100627, P2100671, P2100672, P2100689 P2100747, P2100859 (each with expiration date Nov-2022) and P2200050 (with expiration date Jan-2023).
