Morning Roundup: Here Comes the Sun Edition

Photo by nevermindtheend Good morning, Washington. Well, we made it. The blizzard is over, the sun is shining, and now all we need to do is figure out where to put all the snow. Operation Shovel and Plow commences in earnest today, but for many of D.C.’s residential streets, there are few options left of places to pile up the additional foot we got on top of the two feet that were still on the ground from last weekend. Just remember whatever you do, don’t throw snow from sidewalks or vehicles back into the street. It kinda defeats the purpose of even having plows. Instead, try to pile snow in the area between the curb and the sidewalk. So What About Monday? All anyone is saying for sure is that we’ll stay dry through Sunday. Come Monday or Tuesday, though, there’s a chance for a bit more snow. The key words we’re clinging to so far in this forecast are “light to moderate,” somewhere around 3 inches. Obviously we’ll all be keeping an eye on this, but in the meantime, let’s

all try our damndest just to focus on digging out from what we’ve already got. Will We Get Federal Assistance? There’s been no presidential emergency disaster declared as of yet, but it looks like D.C., Maryland and Virginia will be allowed to apply for federal aid for both of the two latest storms at once , the Post is reporting. And D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton has said that if there’s no presidential declaration, she will ask Congress to add funds to D.C.’s federal appropriations to help pay for cleanup efforts.
